Opposition Forces Did Not Receive Invitations to Participate in Artsakh Independence Celebration

Today marks the 29th anniversary of Artsakh's independence, and unlike in previous years, no major events will be held to celebrate this occasion. Every year, Independence Day was marked with great pomp. Traditionally, not only the elite of Artsakh participated in the celebrations, but also a large delegation from Armenia, led by the country's leader.

This year, celebrations have not been organized due to the pandemic; however, there may be some light ceremonial events. A large number of delegates from Armenia traveled to Artsakh yesterday, led by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ararat Mirzoyan. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had departed earlier.

Although the official announcement only informed about the Speaker's visit, presenting it as a 'working visit', according to our information, in addition to Ararat Mirzoyan, the head and secretary of the 'My Step' faction, along with another 4-5 deputies, also headed to Artsakh.

It is noteworthy that no invitations were extended to the opposition forces. This was confirmed by LHK leader Edmon Marukyan in response to our inquiry. Previously, invitations were sent to factions, and they would then dispatch deputies from the inter-parliamentary group between Armenia and Artsakh, which is headed by the Speaker of the National Assembly.

Additionally, today marks the 100th day of Artsakh President Araik Harutyunyan's tenure. In this regard, he is scheduled to hold a press conference at 15:00, and according to our information, an evening celebration is planned.
