US Ambassador Signs Memorandums with Minister of Justice and Chief of Police in Armenia
In response to the Armenian government's request for support in implementing anti-corruption and police reform strategies, Ambassador Tracy recently signed two memorandums of understanding. These documents clarify the assistance to be provided by the U.S. Embassy's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs in the formation of new anti-corruption institutions and the establishment of a new patrol police system.
The U.S. Embassy reports that it is commendable that the Armenian government is engaging its international partners in the work of forming anti-corruption and law enforcement institutions based on principles of transparency, accountability, effectiveness, and human rights guarantees.
The Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs is prepared to carry out its primary mission of supporting the Armenian government in strengthening the institutions of the entire criminal justice system.
