30 and 28 Ton Reservoirs Exploded at Prushyan Brandy Factory: Emergency Services Official
At the Prushyan Brandy Factory branch in Armavir village, a single 30-ton wine reservoir exploded, alongside 11 other 30-ton reservoirs and 20 eight-ton reservoirs. This was reported today in a press conference by Colonel Hovhannes Margaryan, head of the Armavir Regional Rescue Department.
Margaryan noted that the adjacent building contained alcohol production, which housed stored alcohol and wines, as well as a canned goods production facility. However, the spread of fire and further explosions were successfully prevented.
During the firefighting efforts, two bodies were recovered, and four injured individuals were transported to the Armavir Medical Center before being transferred to a burn treatment center in Yerevan. He stated that the situation is currently under control.
In response to queries regarding the factory owner's assertion that the initial cause of the explosion was due to welding works, Margaryan responded that they cannot provide a definite answer at this moment as an investigation is ongoing, after which the results will clarify the situation.
