Syrian and Russian Military Conduct Assault Against Militants
The Syrian army, with the support of Russian military forces, has carried out mass counter-terrorism operations from August 18 to 24.
According to a representative of the Russian forces in Syria, "As a result of airstrikes by the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force, artillery fire, and the operations of reconnaissance-special forces, 327 militants were eliminated in the area known as the 'white desert', along with 134 hideouts, 17 observation posts, 7 warehouses, and 5 underground storage facilities for weapons and ammunition," as reported by РИА Новости.
The Russian Aerospace Forces have been stationed in Syria since 2015, when Russian soldiers began participating in combat operations against terrorists at the request of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
