Opposition Rally Begins in Minsk
Hundreds of supporters of the Belarusian opposition have gathered once again at Independence Square in Minsk, despite the rainy weather. According to reports from РИА Новости, three police officers approached the rally participants, who were waving the opposition's white-red-white flags. The law enforcement officers were recording their conversations.
Meanwhile, the protesters chanted opposition slogans and sang songs. The police did not take any active measures against them.
It is noteworthy that a similar gathering, with several hundred participants, took place the day before at the same location without incidents or clashes.
Protests and rallies in support of the opposition have continued in Minsk and other cities in Belarus since the presidential elections held on August 9, which resulted in incumbent president Alexander Lukashenko winning 80 percent of the votes.
