These words imply that the officer did not consciously cross the enemy line, as the Azerbaijani propaganda machine attempts to portray, but rather got genuinely lost.

Military expert Karen Hovhannisyan commented on this matter on his Facebook page: “The 45-second long video released by Azerbaijan is a gross violation of international norms, a blatant breach of many standards concerning the treatment of prisoners of war. Closing one's eyes and filming, degrading national identity, issuing humiliating sexual slurs – all of this was recorded and published,” he stated.

It is worth noting that Meydan TV published a photo and a short video of the confused and lost officer Gurgen Alaverdyan due to severely adverse weather conditions: “On August 22, at around 7:30 PM, Officer Gurgen Alaverdyan got confused and lost while checking the combat position due to severely adverse weather conditions. Search operations are ongoing. The statement released by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense regarding a diversion is misinformation, portraying the confused individual as a saboteur,” wrote Shushan Stepanyan, spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, on her Facebook page.
