Video Released of Russian Major General's Assassination in Syria

Footage of the assassination of Russian military advisor Major General Vyacheslav Gladkikh in Syria has surfaced online. The relevant video from the crime scene was released on the Вестник Дамаска Telegram channel.

The video shows a military convoy with a group of people conversing in Russian passing alongside it. Moments later, a homemade explosive device is triggered as the soldiers walk by one of the vehicles.

It has been noted that the slain Russian military officer had participated in the liberation of Palmyra. At the time of his death, he was fulfilling the duties of the head of a group of military advisors assisting Syrians in Deir ez-Zor.

As previously reported, after the incident, the major general was immediately evacuated from the scene and given medical assistance, but he could not be saved. He has been posthumously nominated for a state award. The Ministry of Defense has promised to provide necessary support to the deceased general's family.
