Berlin Hospital Doctors Confirm Alexei Navalny Was Poisoned

Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny, who is undergoing treatment at Berlin's Charite hospital, remains in an artificial coma. Traces of poisoning (intoxication) have been found in his blood, and potential consequences for his nervous system cannot be ruled out. This information was shared in a statement from the hospital, as reported by TASS agency.

"Clinical data indicate poisoning by a substance from the group of cholinesterase inhibitors. It is still unclear which specific substance it is," the statement published on Monday said. The doctors report that there is currently no acute danger to Navalny's life.

Earlier today, German Chancellor Angela Merkel's spokesperson, Steffen Seibert, also stated that the Russian figure was most likely poisoned.

Recall that Navalny was transferred from an Omsk hospital to Berlin's Charite hospital on Saturday morning. The politician's representative, Kira Yarmysh, stated that Navalny's health had sharply deteriorated during a flight from Tomsk to Moscow, prompting the plane to make an emergency landing in Omsk, where Navalny was hospitalized. The Omsk doctors had excluded the possibility of poisoning, stating that no poison was found in his body. He remains in a coma.
