Journalist-Anchor Gagik Harutyunyan Stabbed, Along with His Father and Brother

Journalist-anchor Garik Harutyunyan has encountered a serious incident, which he shared on his Facebook page, also publishing photographs of the doctors who saved the lives of him and his family members.

“Thanks to these people, we are alive and almost healthy now. Last Sunday, these individuals performed three surgeries simultaneously to save my father, brother, and me after the stabbing. The photos show only a part of the people who have been helping us stand on our feet in every possible way at the Shengavit Medical Center for over a week. Your numerous messages, calls, and visits have also contributed to this,” he wrote.

“The person who stabbed us is our neighbor across the street. Many would expect such behavior from him, but not us, because we had no conflict. I will provide more details later, but here’s a brief account: He fought with my father at night and stabbed him—two blows to the arm, three to the abdomen. My father didn’t realize he had been stabbed. After the commotion, my brother and I went out of the house. Following the confrontation with him, I also thought that the blow to my chest was from a hand. But in reality, he had also stabbed me with the same knife. Later, he managed to stab my brother in the abdomen as well.

When one of the neighborhood guys was taking us—already soaked in blood—to the hospital, the stabber continued to shout towards our window. At that moment, my mother and wife remained at home… Thanks to the efforts of the doctors and medical staff and your support, we will return to our normal lives. We do not feel hatred or animosity. Our primary concerns are the safety of our family and accountability for the harm inflicted upon us. Our lives, and those of many other families, are safe as long as that man is isolated,” he concluded.
