I Hope the Restoration of Air Communication with Georgia is a Question of the Near Future - Lavrov
Moscow is closely following the developments in Georgia, and we hope that the restoration of air communication between Russia and Georgia is a question for the near future. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with the publication 'Trud'.
Lavrov said, “We are closely watching what is happening in Georgia, and of course, we are looking forward to the stabilization of the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the region and the world. We also await the restoration of regular flights in other directions.”
He expressed hope that the political dialogue in the Karasin-Abashidze format, interrupted due to the pandemic, would resume soon. “Georgia has always valued its friendship with the fraternal Georgian nation, with whom we have lived together under various names of a unified state for centuries,” he added.
It is noteworthy that direct air communication between Russia and Georgia was suspended on July 8, 2019.
