Video: Wolf Pup in Captivity, Citizen Proposes Hybridization with Dog, Alarm Raised
EcoNews.am, in collaboration with the "Animal Lovers" initiative, continues to present evidence of illegal hunting and animal cruelty through photographs and other details.
Recently, the site received an alarm regarding a citizen's wish to hybridize a wild wolf pup with a "Husky" breed dog. A 24-year-old resident of Gavarr, Gegharkunik province, Alek Gharibyan, publicly announced this online, stating: "Please offer me a female Husky pup, and I'll give you a crossbreed of a Husky and a wolf. I will say that a wolf and Husky pairing results in a more interesting pup." Alek Gharibyan also uploaded a video showing a howling wolf pup trapped in a cage.
It is important to highlight that this citizen is not only keeping a wild animal in captivity but is also intending to carry out interspecies hybridization. The law on the animal world in the Republic of Armenia states: "The fauna of the Republic of Armenia is a national treasure. It is one of the most important elements ensuring the integrity of nature and a guarantee for its ecological balance and harmonious development. The fauna of the Republic of Armenia is the exclusive property of the state."
The aforementioned actions may also be regarded as animal cruelty, for which criminal liability is stipulated.
The uploaded video and the commentary have raised concerns and dissatisfaction among many citizens, prompting Alek Gharibyan to delete it afterwards.
