Peskov on Russia's Military Aid to Belarus

Russian President Vladimir Putin's Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov has stated that Russia has obligations to provide military assistance to Belarus within the framework of international agreements; however, he emphasized that there is currently no necessity for such assistance. This was reported by the Meduza publication.

Peskov also mentioned that Russia acknowledges the results of the elections held in Belarus and considers the situation in the country to be an internal matter for Belarus.

The Press Secretary further noted that there are attempts at external interference regarding the situation in Belarus. However, Peskov did not specify who is making such attempts.

It is noteworthy that phone conversations took place between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on August 14 and 15, after which the Kremlin announced that Russia is prepared to offer support to Belarus based on the agreements currently in effect between the two countries.
