Lukashenko Denies Reports of Russian Military Presence in Belarus

The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, today denied reports of foreign military presence in the country during a Security Council meeting with regional leaders, according to the belta.by website.

The source details that the president expressed dissatisfaction with the misinformation circulating online. “Another issue is the fakes. There is blatant lies on the internet: foreign troops in Belarus, military equipment from the Russian Federation... You have probably seen how they spread this, taking pictures of military equipment columns from unknown times, belonging to unknown people and passing through unknown routes, and it must be said that these are moving from the Russian border to Orsha,” the head of state noted.

“They have filmed without even realizing that these are Belarusian, not Russian armored vehicles, and that they are moving towards the western border after we decided to take additional measures to protect state sovereignty and independence, to secure the state border,” the president added, stating that currently, there are no personnel from the armed forces of other countries in their territory.

Earlier, it was reported that on August 16, several dozen cargo trucks of Ural and KamAZ brands, without license plates or identifying signs, were observed moving towards the Belarusian border along Russian E95 and M1 highways, as reported by the Conflict Intelligence Team.
