Director of Beirut Port Arrested
The general director of the Port of Beirut, Hassan Kreitem, has been arrested. According to the correspondent newspaper, investigators questioned the detained official for more than 4 hours in the presence of his lawyer.
In connection with the tragic explosion that occurred on August 4 at the Port of Beirut, an order has also been issued to arrest the head of the Lebanese Customs, Badri Daher.
There has been no information reported regarding the proceedings for another 21 individuals who have been detained in relation to the Beirut explosion case.
It is worth noting that the state of emergency in the Lebanese capital has been extended for another month, which was imposed following the explosion. The tragic explosion on August 4 at the Port of Beirut resulted in the deaths of over 170 people, with 6,000 injured, and approximately 300,000 people displaced.
Lebanese citizens blame the authorities for negligence in the explosion. In the aftermath of the protests, the government, led by the Prime Minister, has resigned.
