Belarusian Interior Ministry Announces Inaccurate Information Regarding Missing Protest Participants
The spokesperson for the Belarusian Interior Ministry, Olga Chemodanova, has stated that reports concerning the disappearance of protest participants are unreliable. "We are thoroughly checking the information about missing citizens from August 9-13; often the information is inaccurate. Employees of the criminal militia have verified the identities of over 70 participants of unauthorized mass events (held in the country from August 9-13), whose details have been published on the TUТ.BY portal and various social media. The published information does not fully correspond to reality; many of the mentioned citizens are at home, and the information about their wanted status is not being removed in a timely manner. For instance, from the entire list, only one woman is considered missing; the request for her wanted status was received by law enforcement on August 6. We ask citizens to verify information and approach publicly available data more critically. If you still do not know the whereabouts of your relatives, please first contact the law enforcement agencies with an application rather than online resources," stated Chemodanova in an official announcement on her Telegram channel.
