VIDEO: Belarusian Ambassador in Slovakia Becomes the First to Support Protest Participants in His Homeland
The Belarusian ambassador in Slovakia, Igor Leshchenya, has sent a video message expressing support for the participants of the protests in his homeland. Leshchenya is the first active Belarusian ambassador to show his support for those involved in the protests, according to tvrain.ru.
In the message directed to his compatriots, Leshchenya stated that he is shocked by the "stories of torture and beatings" experienced by his fellow citizens.
“Hundreds of my compatriots have felt that several representatives of law enforcement agencies have completely restored the traditions of the NKVD (People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs of the USSR) in tolerant 21st-century Europe,” said Leshchenya.
According to him, the security forces are “trying to prevent external interference in the internal affairs of the country,” but
