Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during which the leaders of the two countries discussed the situation in Libya and Syria, reports RIA Novosti, citing the Kremlin's press service.

"A phone conversation took place between President Vladimir Putin of Russia and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, during which particular attention was drawn to the issue of the Libyan crisis. The necessity of taking real steps for direct negotiations between the conflicting parties and a ceasefire, in accordance with the decisions of the Berlin Conference and UN Security Council Resolution 2510, was highlighted again," the statement said.

Additionally, the presidents discussed the situation in Syria, emphasizing the need to intensify joint efforts in the fight against terrorism. The leaders agreed on further coordination concerning the implementation of Russian-Turkish agreements regarding the de-escalation zone in Idlib.

The presidents also discussed other contemporary international issues.
