Changes in Mask-Wearing Regulations: The Chief of Police Signs a New Decision

The Chief of Police of Armenia, Tigran Avinyan, has signed a decision regarding amendments and additions to the Chief of Police’s decision No. 63 dated May 3, 2020.

“Guided by the Government of the Republic of Armenia's decision No. 298-N dated March 16, 2020, declaring a state of emergency in the Republic of Armenia: 1. Amend and supplement the Chief of Police's decision No. 63, dated May 3, 2020, regarding temporary restrictions applied throughout the territory of the Republic of Armenia as follows:

1. Point 6 of the decision shall be revised as follows: “6. It is mandatory to wear masks in public open spaces outside the residential area of one’s place of residence, except for: a. children under the age of 6, b. individuals with chronic respiratory conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema, or bronchitis with severe respiratory failure, and individuals with classes 3 or 4 chronic heart failure, provided they have medical documentation confirming their condition, c. during physical exercises or cycling, d. in outdoor recreational areas designated for leisure outside village and urban residential areas, recreational zones, beaches, mountains, forests, and similar outdoor areas, but not for visits to historical and cultural sites, pilgrimage, or participation in organized individual and group trips, excursions, hikes, travels, and similar events.
2. After point 6.1, add point 6.2 with the following content: “6.2. Masks must be worn in accordance with the regulations specified in Appendix No. 18 of this decision.”
3. Point 7 of the decision shall be revised as follows: “7. Other cases and requirements for mandatory mask-wearing are established by Appendices 2-17 of this decision.”
4. In the first sentence of point 10, replace the words “appendices No. 2-4, 6” with “appendices No. 2-6.”
5. In point 11, replace the words “Arman Sargsyan” with “Vahe Ghazaryan.”
