New Details on the Arrests of 'Thieves in Law' Makaryan and Sedrakyan
New details have emerged regarding the arrests of 'thieves in law' Alexander Makaryan, known as 'Thief Alo', and Arthur Sedrakyan, a candidate from the Republican Party of Armenia for the Yerevan Council of Elders, with the nickname 'Tiz'.
According to an official statement, the investigation revealed that a citizen, seeking to retrieve a debt owed to him by a person held in a penal institution, reached out to a 'thief in law'—an individual possessing the highest rank in criminal hierarchy. This 'thief' instructed a member of his organized crime group to resolve the dispute using his illegal influence.
From this story, one might be led to believe that it concerns a substantial amount of money; however, as reported by the newspaper, the sum in question is merely $900, which prompted the involvement of the 'thief in law' and a participant from the organized crime group.
