The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, is preparing to address the nation with an urgent message. This was reported by the radio station Kommersant FM on its Twitter page, referencing the country's leader's press secretary, Natalya Eismont.
Mass protests have not ceased in Belarus since the presidential elections held on August 9. Citizens are expressing their dissatisfaction with the election results, in which the incumbent president Alexander Lukashenko was declared the winner with over 80 percent of the vote.
For several days, clashes have taken place between protesters and security forces in several cities, including Brest, Gomel, Grodno, and the capital, Minsk. Many people have been injured, and thousands have been arrested. It is noted that during the clashes on August 10, one person died.
