UN Reports Over 6000 Arrests in Belarus

More than 6000 individuals have been arrested during protests in Belarus, including random passersby and minors. This was stated in a statement by Michelle Bachelet, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

She called for the immediate release of all those unlawfully detained. Furthermore, for those who have faced harsh treatment for peacefully expressing dissent, justice and reparations should be ensured, Bachelet reported.

According to UN data, at least 250 individuals have been injured, and one protest participant has died.

The organization has called for a thorough, independent, and impartial investigation into all reports of human rights violations in the country.
