Several Ministers to Be Questioned in Beirut Explosion Case

The Lebanese prosecutor's office intends to summon several ministers from the current and previous government compositions for questioning in the case regarding the explosion that occurred at the Beirut port. This was reported on Wednesday by the Al Arabiya television channel, citing a source within the country's judicial framework, as reported by TASS.

According to the source, the first to be questioned will be Ghazi al-Aridi, the former head of the Lebanese Ministry of Public Works. It is also planned to summon several other former ministers from the ministries of public works, finance, and justice to provide testimony.

On August 4, an explosion in a warehouse at the Beirut port resulted in the deaths of 171 people, injured around 6,000, and left dozens missing. According to the Lebanese Ministry of the Interior, the tragedy was caused by the ignition of 2,700 tons of ammonium nitrate that had been seized by customs services six years prior during welding work.
