Putin and Aliyev Discuss Tensions on Armenian-Azerbaijani Border

A phone conversation took place at the initiative of the Azerbaijani side between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Russian President Vladimir Putin, as reported by the Kremlin's press service. Aliyev congratulated the Russian president on the registration of the Russian coronavirus vaccine and other issues on the bilateral agenda were also discussed.

“The parties reaffirmed their readiness to strengthen Russian-Azerbaijani partnership in all areas. The leaders of the two countries exchanged views on regional issues in the context of the escalation recorded at the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border in July. Vladimir Putin emphasized the importance of avoiding actions that could contribute to the escalation of tensions,” the Kremlin's statement said.

Previously, congratulatory messages regarding the vaccine registration were sent to Putin by the presidents of Kazakhstan, Argentina, and Palestine, while the president of Moldova congratulated the Russian ambassador.
