Police Lieutenant Sent on Forced Leave: Is Liking Kocharyan's Post the Reason?
Hayk Sargsyan posted on his Facebook page: "Dear compatriots, colleagues, I, Police Lieutenant Hayk Sargsyan, after a prolonged period of forced inactivity, was compelled to make a statement, which, to put it mildly, does not align with the interests of those who 'donated' the police personnel reserve to me. Yes, individuals, because the reason I am on forced leave involves several officers who have violated my right to freedom and have presented justifications to former police chief Arman Sargsyan that I liked the post of the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, stating that 'Artsakh is the highest value.' Indeed, for me, Artsakh is the highest value, and it should be for any clear-minded Armenian.
"Gentlemen officers, law enforcers, I inform you that Article 27 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia stipulates that everyone has the right to freedom of expression, including the freedom to seek, receive, and disseminate information and ideas through any media, regardless of state borders. Undoubtedly, liking this or that post on Facebook, and generally in the online domain, outside of work hours, is my prerogative, and sending me to the reserve on the pretext of liking a post in these difficult circumstances is an unconstitutional, unlawful act.
"I have eloquent evidence in my possession, which serves as a living proof supporting my thesis that I have been sent to the reserve exclusively in an illegal and arbitrary manner. Gentlemen responsible, if no resolution is provided to the concerns I’ve raised, I promise to publish the evidence I possess. Consider this not as blackmail but as an invitation to dialogue and a call for fair and objective treatment.
"In the end, the mission of the police is to prevent and prohibit offenses, and in this case, you are undermining your key principle. This, undoubtedly, brings no honor to you. Respect the law, respect your colleagues, even those lower in rank who may be tomorrow's generals; after all, nothing is eternal except for the deeds you perform... Draw conclusions and reevaluate your methods. And remember, EVERYTHING IS VISIBLE TO ALL... I have the honor... Yours, Police Lieutenant Hayk Sargsyan."
