Is the Turkey-Azerbaijan Military Exercise Worrisome? Armenian Defense Ministry's Commentary

We are not concerned about the extension of the Turkey-Azerbaijan military exercises. This is how Shushan Stepanyan, spokesperson for the Armenian Ministry of Defense, responded to Sputnik Armenia's inquiry regarding the joint Turkey-Azerbaijan drill.

“Given that any international military exercise, besides the combat readiness component, also contains military-diplomatic and military-political messages, the news about the presence of a high-level Turkish military-political delegation makes the Turkey-Azerbaijan exercises alarming in terms of the unprecedented nature of these messages,” said Stepanyan.

It should be noted that it became known today that the Turkey-Azerbaijan military exercises, which started on July 29 and were set to last until August 10, have been extended. Azerbaijani media reported that on August 12, the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey, Hulusi Akar, the Chief of General Staff, General Yashar Güler, the commanders of the troops, and other senior officers arrived in Azerbaijan.
