Former Head of Seyran Ohanyan's Security Detail Sues Ministry of Defense
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that the former head of the security detail for the Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan, Sergey Hayrapetyan, has filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia.
According to information obtained by "Zhoghovurd," Sergey Hayrapetyan applied to the Administrative Court of the Republic of Armenia on August 10, demanding that the court compel the Ministry of Defense to annul the order from June 20, 2020, and offer him an equivalent position. Furthermore, he is requesting that the ministry compensate him for any enforced leave throughout this period and adjust the calculation of his overall military service tenure.
It is noteworthy that Hayrapetyan previously drew attention due to a scandalous incident. On March 15, 2016, he was arrested while receiving a bribe near the administrative complex of the Ministry of Defense. Subsequently, Arsen Garibjanyan, the chief specialist of the Technical Support Department of the Ministry’s Material and Technical Department, was also detained. On the same day, Colonel Samvel Khachatryan, head of the General Control Division of the Ministry’s Inspection Department, was arrested as well. Reports indicated that Sergey Hayrapetyan physically assaulted Arsen Garibjanyan to coerce him into writing a testimony against Samvel Khachatryan.
After the revolution, Khachatryan was acquitted; however, Garibjanyan has been missing since his release, and law enforcement has not located him to this day.
