Belarusian Interior Minister Orders to 'Not Touch' Journalists During Protests

Belarusian Interior Minister Yury Karayeu has instructed law enforcement to ‘not touch’ journalists during protests, as reported by TUT.by.

“My principled stance is to not touch journalists, except in cases where they are the violators of the law,” said Karayeu. He urged journalists to avoid taking risks during illegal street demonstrations.

“Currently, there are actively circulating reports online about the arrests of journalists. In most cases, they have been released without administrative charges. We understand that these individuals are carrying out their professional activities,” stated the Ministry of Internal Affairs press secretary, Olga Chemodanova.

It is notable that during protests in Belarus, both local and foreign journalists have faced violence, arrests, and confiscation of equipment.
