Woman Attacks Husband with Knife During Argument in Alaverdi; Preliminary Investigation Completed
The preliminary investigation into a criminal case regarding mutual physical assaults between spouses, causing minor injuries and issuing threats, has been completed by the Tumanyan Investigation Division of the Lori Regional Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee.
According to gathered evidence during the investigation, on December 30, 2019, at around 6 PM, a 31-year-old resident of Alaverdi, having strained family relations with his wife, inflicted bodily harm on her during an argument that arose out of jealousy in their apartment located in the Sanahin Sarahart neighborhood, causing physical pain by hitting various parts of her body.
Additionally, on May 15, 2020, at around 11 PM, during a jealousy-driven argument, both spouses inflicted numerous blows on each other, deliberately causing mutual minor injuries. During this altercation, the man's wife took a kitchen knife and attacked her husband, threatening to kill him, but a female relative present at the argument intervened, preventing the woman's actions and confiscating the knife from her hands.
Based on sufficient evidence obtained, the 31-year-old man from Alaverdi has been charged under Article 118 (battery) and Article 117 (deliberate infliction of minor injury) of the RA Criminal Code, while his wife has been charged under Article 118 and the first part of Article 137 (threat of murder, causing serious harm to health or destruction of property) of the Criminal Code. They have been chosen as a preventive measure signed not to leave.
The preliminary investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to court with an accusatory conclusion.
