VIDEO: After 7 Hours of Clashes, Security Forces Remove Protesters from the Streets of Minsk
Belarusian police forces and internal troops have lifted the blockade of central Minsk. A TASS correspondent reports that after around 7 hours of clashes, security personnel succeeded in removing protesters from the streets. Special units of the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs have begun to leave the central streets of Minsk.
In recent hours, the active hotspot of clashes was the Kuenzhevshchina district, where protesters had built barricades from iron rods and concrete stones, blocking Prititskovo Avenue. In response to the security forces' operation to push them back from the city center, they threw bottles filled with flammable liquid at law enforcement officers. It was in this location that a protester had died the day before during the clashes.
