What Controversies Existed Between Davidiants and Arsen Torosyan
The public continues to discuss the dismissal of Mher Davidiants, the director of the Nork Infectious Diseases Hospital. The dismissal has been poorly received by the medical community and beyond, as many believe that a specialist who has undertaken such titanic work in the fight against the coronavirus should not be treated in this manner.
Yesterday, we already had information that there was a meeting with Davidiants, during which he was urged to return to the infectious diseases hospital as deputy director. Some claim he agreed to take the deputy position, while others insist the opposite.
ArmDaily.am has learned what controversies have arisen between Davidiants and the Minister of Health, Arsen Torosyan. According to the media outlet, Davidiants was initially opposed to turning the Nork Infectious Diseases Hospital into a COVID center because it lacked the necessary capabilities—particularly in terms of resuscitation and equipment. He initially proposed to take a larger hospital for that purpose, but that step was taken rather belatedly.
Secondly, controversies arose related to the modular hospital and the CT scan equipment, as Davidiants did not sign the handover-acceptance acts. For instance, according to circulating information, the CT equipment is old and was previously used at the oncology center. By the way, the hospital staff believes that creating the modular hospital was pointless, as it is unsuitable for use due to heat conditions. Thus, it is a fact that Davidiants had serious disagreements regarding financial investments.
Thirdly, Davidiants also had significant disputes with Deputy Minister Artom Smbatyan. There were also other issues within the infectious diseases hospital, particularly with the staff periodically sending letters of dissatisfaction regarding the conditions created there, specifically voicing complaints about the bonuses received—indicating that some doctors in other hospitals not engaged in coronavirus treatment received higher bonuses.
