VIDEO: Gugark Police Uncover Illegal Tree Felling Cases
On August 8, around 4 PM, officers from the Gugark Police Department, along with traffic police, inspected a "UAZ" vehicle loaded with timber belonging to a 47-year-old resident of Vanadzor on the Vanadzor-Alaverdi road. The driver failed to present any documentation verifying the legality of the firewood.
The vehicle loaded with timber was taken to the department's specially protected area. In an effort to detect and prevent environmental violations, officers from the Gugark Police Department, together with special forces police, carried out an inspection in the administrative area of Dzoragukh on August 9 at 4:30 AM, bringing in a "ZIL" vehicle driven by a 45-year-old resident of Sarahart village, which was loaded with approximately 8 cubic meters of timber.
The driver of the truck did not provide any documents regarding the procurement of firewood, but stated that he had illegally felled two trees from the forest of Vahagnadzor village on August 6 and 7.
On the same day, the Gugark department's police, in cooperation with patrol officers, inspected two "Ford Transit" vehicles loaded with timber in the administrative area of Dzoragukh. The drivers, both residents of Vanadzor, also failed to present any documentation confirming the legality of the firewood. It was found that one was from Lorut and the other was from Pambak village and had illegally cut down trees using a gas saw.
The vehicles loaded with timber were taken to the protected area of the Gugark Police Department. A professional inspection has been initiated. Preparatory materials are being compiled.
