Marukyan Appeals to Pashinyan on Pension Payments for Citizens Unable to Return to Armenia
Edmon Marukyan, the head of the 'Enlightened Armenia' parliamentary faction, has appealed to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan regarding the issue of pension payments for citizens who are unable to return to Armenia from abroad.
“I inform you that I have addressed Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan concerning the pension payment issue affecting our citizens who are deprived of the opportunity to return to Armenia from abroad. As is known, the legal requirements for receiving pensions in a cashless manner stipulate an obligation to sign a declaration regarding being in the country at least once a year in the relevant offices of the Republic of Armenia,” he stated.
The inability to objectively fulfill the legal requirement has, in essence, become a basis for depriving these citizens of their pensions, while the situation in all respects is extraordinary. Therefore, this regulation should not be in effect to the detriment of our citizens. Accordingly, I have proposed to the Prime Minister to suspend the aforementioned deadlines until the elimination of the pandemic and its consequences,” Marukyan added.
