The Belarusian Central Election Commission has presented the preliminary results of the recent elections. According to the data, 5.79 million people participated in the elections, or 84.23 percent of voters. Aleksandr Lukashenko received 80.23 percent of the votes, while Svitlana Tsikhanouskaya garnered 9.9 percent.

The other three candidates received a total of 1.1 percent of the votes. Lydia Yermoshina, head of the Belarusian Central Election Commission, stated that these figures are unlikely to change significantly in the near future.

During a meeting with the media, she also mentioned the need to switch to an electronic voting system in Belarus to help commission members avoid pressure. She disclosed that she was evacuated from her home by security forces during the night to prevent a worsening situation.
