I’ve Been Fined One-Third of My Pitiful Salary, says Yerevan State University Lecturer
Yerevan State University lecturer Yulia Antonian made a post on her Facebook page regarding her detention for participating in a protest action.
“I haven’t slept for three nights. I can’t. I realized that my arrest during the non-held rally at Amulsar plunged me into a deep psychological shock. In fact, after the revolution, I, a person calmly standing outdoors, masked and maintaining social distance, can be arrested, accused of illegal activities, threatened with court action, and fined one-third of my pitiful salary…. I can’t forget the 30-40 police barrier in front of the government building. Young, vigorous police officers protecting a government made up of similarly young men from a crowd of less than ten civilized intellectuals. And in that government, not a single one of my elected officials in the National Assembly found the courage to raise their voice in our defense. NOT A SINGLE ONE. We are nothing to them, zero, disgusting ants that can be crushed with a single finger.”
