Agricultural Market Resumes Operation Near 'Hrazdan' Stadium
Fresh and affordable agricultural products directly from producers are now available as the agricultural market near the 'Hrazdan' stadium has reopened. This was reported by the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Economy of Armenia.
With the joint efforts of the Ministry of Economy and the Yerevan City Hall, the agricultural products market was reopened on August 8 in the area adjacent to 'Hrazdan' stadium, and it will operate every Saturday and Sunday. Previously, the market was organized in a square adjacent to Kasyan Street, but after discussions, it was deemed more appropriate to hold it near 'Hrazdan' stadium.
Present at the opening of the market were Deputy Ministers of Economy Arman Khojoyan and Tigran Gabrielyan. The deputy ministers toured the market stalls, made purchases, and spoke with farmers who have come to the capital from various regions of the republic, showcasing exclusively their products.
“Some expressed concerns that the market here would not operate effectively, but during our tour today, we noticed that only a few hours after its opening, some farmers had already sold out their agricultural products. This is an encouraging signal that all our efforts to activate the market seem to be successful,” noted Arman Khojoyan during the visit.
He also informed that, in addition to other free supplies provided by the ministry in previous years, about 10 million drams worth of free equipment will be allocated for ensuring the market's activities, including approximately 200 tables for stalls, 75 tents, and 100 scales and carts, which will provide additional support for farmers presenting their products at the market. To prevent resale, sellers will also receive identification cards indicating their region and community.
Emphasizing that farmers from all regions of Armenia can participate in the market, the deputy minister added that if many express interest, all conditions have been created to expand the market and add around 200 additional tables.
The police will monitor the maintenance of safety and public order during the market's operation. All participating farmers have also been provided with disinfectants and masks by the Ministry of Economy of Armenia.
