Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry Recruiting Volunteers Under 35, Military Expert Says
Turkologist and military expert Karen Hovhannisyan wrote on his Facebook page: “Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry has announced the recruitment of volunteers fit for military service who are under the age of 35. According to the statement from Azerbaijan's military agency, those citizens who meet the specifications in their documents will undergo special courses for active military service, after which a contract will be signed for three years, and they will be assigned to positions according to their chosen specialties.
This absurd method is, in fact, the first step toward preparing professional officers in a short time and is more ridiculous. In addition to health and physical criteria for participation in the courses, there is also, attention, a criterion for “thinking ability.” This criterion is assessed through nothing less than an oral question-and-answer session. It is also noteworthy that soldiers sent to reserve are prohibited from applying.”
