Tragic Accident in Hrazdan: 2 Dead at the Scene, Another Dies in Hospital
On August 4, a serious and tragic car accident occurred in the Kotayk region. Around 11:40 PM, a resident of Hrazdan, 40-year-old Hovhannes Vardanyan, lost control of his Volkswagen Passat while driving on Zoravar Andranik Street from the "Aghbyurak" neighborhood toward the "Center" neighborhood. The vehicle went off the roadway, crashed into basalt curbs, continued forward to hit a power pole, and then crashed into a massive fir tree.
According to shamshyan.com from the scene, passengers, 41-year-old Karen Sargsyan and 40-year-old Artur Aleksanyan, both residents of Hrazdan, died at the scene, while the driver, H. Vardanyan, was extricated from the vehicle with great difficulty by the rescue team from the Hrazdan fire-rescue squad of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, who responded promptly. He was transported by the emergency medical brigade of the Hrazdan Medical Center to the hospital, where he died shortly after without regaining consciousness.
Witnesses at the scene reported that the deceased, K. Sargsyan, worked as a senior enforcement officer in the Kotayk regional department of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia.
