The Film 'The Promise' About the Armenian Genocide Will Be Available on Netflix

The American company Netflix has acquired the streaming rights to the Hollywood film 'The Promise'. Film producer Eric Israelyan announced this on his official Twitter page.

“We are pleased to announce that Netflix has obtained the rights to screen 'The Promise'. We thank everyone for their support. We believe that this will increase awareness among people. We are grateful for the generosity of our dear friend and benefactor Kirk Kerkorian, whose immense generosity allowed our team to create this film and its historical documentary analog, aimed at pushing American legislators to recognize the Armenian Genocide once and for all,” he wrote, as reported by Voice of America.

According to the producer, they have accomplished this mission thanks to numerous supporters and a social campaign. “No denial from human rights violators or their accomplices will erase that fact. We have allocated the revenues from the films to charitable organizations operating in education, healthcare, science, human rights, social services, culture, and many other sectors in the USA, Armenia, and other countries, in addition to the recognition by Congress. We aimed to build museums and use the films as a starting point in response to misinformation.

The film will begin screening on August 8. Earlier, in an interview with an Armenian News Agency journalist, he mentioned that the main goal of the film is to tell our story through possible visible mechanisms. “We have excellent books about the historical facts of the genocide, but we also need to use technology and filmmaking to show that story to the world. The aim was not just to create a film, but to inform people. We started a social movement called ‘Keep The Promise’, Kerkorian promised to fund the film, we promised to complete it, to never forget the Armenian Genocide, and now we must promise to never allow genocide to occur against any people again. There are very few films that have such life and impact as 'The Promise' does today,” he emphasized.
