Wealthy Countries Massively Acquire COVID-19 Vaccine Doses: New Details

The world's wealthiest countries have signed contracts to acquire more than 1.3 billion doses of vaccines from various companies, despite none of the vaccines having yet entered the market, reports Bloomberg, citing the analytical company Airfinity.

The United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and Japan have already secured around 1.3 billion doses. Considering the anticipated deals and the potential for additional supplies, this number may change to exceed 1.5 billion, the agency notes.

Experts are concerned that such "aggressive purchasing" may pose a threat to other countries, as the latter will find themselves at the bottom of the queue for vaccine acquisition.
