Masked Robbers Assault Gold Shop Saleswoman, Threaten with Knife and Firearm

On August 1, 2020, around 09:00, two masked individuals entered a gold jewelry store on Tumanyan Street in Alaverdi, armed with illegally obtained firearms and a knife used as a weapon. With the intent to commit theft, they attacked the saleswoman, binding her mouth and hands, and threatened her life with the knife and firearm while demanding and seizing the keys to the fireproof safe.

After failing to open all the locks on the safe doors, they fired a shot, attempted to open the locks again, but were unable to steal the gold jewelry worth approximately 10,000,000 AMD that was inside, and subsequently fled the scene.

A criminal case has been initiated by the Lori regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee under Article 175 (robbery) part 3, point 1, and Article 235 (illegal acquisition, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons, military ammunition, explosives or explosive devices) part 2 of the RA Criminal Code. Investigative actions and operational-search measures are being undertaken to clarify all the circumstances of the case and to identify and locate the individuals responsible for the crime. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
