Stabbing in Yerevan: Doctors Fight for the Life of 32-Year-Old Man
On August 1, a stabbing incident occurred in Yerevan. Around 23:30, the police department of Kanaker-Zeitun received a call from the number 1 university hospital reporting that a citizen had been admitted in extremely critical condition with a diagnosis of 'stab wound to the left flank.'
Doctors informed the police that the victim was in the operating room and was unable to provide an explanation regarding the incident. The police department's criminal investigation and community policing units identified the victim as 32-year-old Varazdat Mkrtchyan, a resident of Yerevan.
Local police conducted necessary operational and investigative measures to clarify certain circumstances of the case and determined the identity of the alleged suspect. Following an explanatory process, 48-year-old Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, also a resident of Yerevan, presented himself to the Kanaker-Zeitun police.
A criminal case has been initiated by the Kanaker-Zeitun investigative department of the Yerevan city investigative committee. H. Hovhannisyan has been arrested by the decision of the investigator. Necessary operational and investigative joint actions are being undertaken to find the knife used in the crime.
The police also clarified that the altercation took place on Rubinyants Street around 23:00 on the same day.
