Protests continue in Khabarovsk, with participants demanding the release of the region's former governor, Sergey Furgal.
Governor Furgal was arrested on July 9 and faces charges related to a series of murders that occurred in the 2000s. According to police, around 3,500 people participated in today's protest. Despite heavy rain, protesters marched through the central streets of Khabarovsk, gathering in front of the regional administration building.
Police did not interfere with the protest action in any way. In support of Furgal, protests have also taken place in several other cities in the Far East, including Vladivostok, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, and Komsomolsk.
