Not Only with Strength, But Also with a Peaceful Heart and Strong Faith
On August 2, the Saint Mesrop Mashtots Church was ceremoniously opened at the Vazgen Sargsyan Military University. Present at the ceremony were Minister of Defense David Tonoyan, senior military officials, the university's leadership, and academic staff. This information was provided by the press secretary of the Ministry of Defense, Shushan Stepanyan.
The foundation of the church's construction was laid in 2013, initiated by the former head of the military university, Lieutenant General Martin Karapetyan, and the university staff. The construction was interrupted, but in 2020, under the instructions of Minister of Defense David Tonoyan and the initiative of Lieutenant General Martin Karapetyan, with the participation of the head of the military university, Colonel Khachatur Khachatryan, the construction works were resumed and completed.
Under the leadership of the spiritual leader of the Armed Forces, Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan, the church's cross, bell, holy altar, and baptismal font were consecrated with holy myrrh. The spiritual leader delivered a blessing and wished for new achievements in the sacred mission of preserving the spiritual and national values of the Armenian people.
Henceforth, the Saint Mesrop Mashtots Church will operate within the military university's premises, where prayers will be raised for officers and cadets, and holy sacraments, liturgies, baptisms, and other church rites will be conducted.
