«Hraparak». Trains from Armenia Cannot Reach the Ports of Poti or Batumi; Railway Will Be Inoperative from September 1-16

«Hraparak» newspaper reports:
«Due to the decision of the Georgian authorities, the railway will be inoperative from September 1-16. This means that trains from Armenia will not be able to reach the ports of Poti or Batumi. The reason is the construction of a bridge in Tbilisi.

Consequently, the freight transportation will be suspended for 16 days, during which gasoline, diesel fuel, food, and household goods are imported into Armenia by rail. Exports from Armenia will also come to a halt, for example, the export of mineral resources, which has no alternative other than the railway.

The information was confirmed by the South Caucasian Railway LLC. The only option is that goods will accumulate in the ports, and as soon as the railway reopens, they will be rapidly transported to Armenia.

More details in today’s edition of the newspaper.
