Government to Provide Support to Restaurant Business for Job Preservation
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has met with representatives of the restaurant business. This was reported by the press service of the Prime Minister of Armenia.
During the meeting, the issues facing the sector and potential solutions were discussed. "Your initiative provided an opportunity to meet with representatives from all sectors of our economy in the near future, so that we can discuss more locally and try to understand what we can do to not only overcome the economic crisis but also enhance the competitiveness and efficiency of sectors and our economy as a whole. Even in crisis conditions, I believe we should not forget this agenda. The more proactive we are in a crisis situation and the more we manifest certain policies for a longer-term horizon, the better it will be," stated Prime Minister Pashinyan.
Following this, restaurant business representatives presented their concerns, issues arising from the coronavirus pandemic, and suggestions for their resolution. In particular, representatives of the private sector expressed satisfaction with the anti-crisis economic measures being implemented by the government and emphasized the importance of possible support for job preservation in the restaurant sector. They noted that this would help the sector emerge from the crisis with minimal losses.
Economy Minister Tigran Khachatryan informed that the issue had already been discussed in the government under the leadership of the Prime Minister, and a project to provide state assistance for job preservation is now in the preparatory phase. The minister provided details about the mechanisms of support planned in the project.
The Prime Minister has instructed to continue discussions with the private sector over the next week to refine the project based on their suggestions and present it for government approval. The head of the executive emphasized the necessity of continuous development in the service sector and urged business representatives to also initiate the establishment of modern restaurants and cafes in the regions, which is also significant for improving the atmosphere in communities.
