"We Must Be Ready to Move Military Operations into Azerbaijani Territory if Necessary": Command Meetings at the Artsakh Defense Army

According to the preparedness plan for the 2020 training year, command meetings were held in the Artsakh Defense Army from July 27-29 to assess the readiness of unit commanders and their deputies, improve the level of professional knowledge, and enhance theoretical and practical skills.

The first lecture was conducted by the commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, Major General Jalal Harutyunyan. He emphasized the importance of such formats of gatherings and the theoretical and practical exercises carried out alongside them in the context of strengthening the daily operational activities of the troops and the ongoing increase in the combat readiness of the units.

During the command meetings, various lectures and seminar training sessions on tactical and operational preparedness were conducted, addressing issues of moral and psychological support. The meetings were beneficial not only for enhancing command training but also for establishing uniform approaches in daily troop management, exchanging service experience, and strengthening closer ties among participants.

The results of the command meetings were attended by the President of the Republic of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan. Welcoming the participants of the concluding session, the President noted that the country’s security guarantor, the Defense Army, is excellently accomplishing all assigned combat tasks, contributing to the maintenance of peace and security in the region.

Furthermore, addressing the provocative actions unleashed by Azerbaijan along the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border and the threatening statements from the military-political leadership of that country, Arayik Harutyunyan stated that at all times, there must be readiness not only to deliver a worthy response to the adversary’s provocations but also, if necessary, to move combat operations into Azerbaijani territory, affirming that military construction will continue to be a priority for the country’s authorities and everything will be done to further develop and strengthen the army.

In summarizing the results of the command meetings, Major General Jalal Harutyunyan compiled the recorded results, and a group of military personnel who achieved the best indicators were awarded encouragement, while the participating officers were given necessary instructions and assignments for the organization of further service.
