VIDEO: A New Rover Launched to Search for Signs of Life in Mars' Past

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is preparing to launch its most advanced rover to Mars, intended to search for signs of life in the distant corner of space.

The rover, named Perseverance, is set to land in Jezero crater, situated north of the planet's equator, where ancient microbes may have been preserved.

This $2.7 billion rover is equipped with cutting-edge tools designed to analyze the origins and composition of rocks. The rover will land on the planet using a 1.8 kg helicopter called Ingenuity, which will be the first helicopter used on another planet.
