Japan to Provide Grant to Armenia for Acquisition of Ambulances
The government approved today, July 30, a legislative initiative regarding the ratification of the agreement on granting the "Economic and Social Development" grant, signed between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of Japan on June 30, 2020, in Yerevan.
The reasoning behind the decision states: "The agreement on granting the 'Economic and Social Development' grant, signed on June 30 this year between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of Japan, is the result of negotiations between the two governments. Its purpose is to develop economic cooperation with Japan and to promote the economic and social development of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the agreement, the Government of Japan will provide the Government of Armenia with a grant of 400 million Japanese yen, within which the Armenian side considers it appropriate to acquire four-wheel drive (4WD) ambulances and 'mobile medical clinic' vehicles, which will be used in the rural areas of Armenia, particularly in mountainous regions, to provide medical assistance to the population.
The availability of these vehicles will significantly contribute to improving healthcare in the country, especially in the regions, and increasing accessibility to medical assistance. In light of this, the Ministry of Health of Armenia emphasizes the importance of ratifying the agreement.
