I Had No Chronic Illness, But the Consequences Were Unpredictable: MP on Coronavirus

MP Gayane Abahamyann from the 'My Step' parliamentary group, who was infected with the coronavirus, writes on her Facebook page:

“Dear friends, I am back home continuing the seemingly endless treatment for #Coronavirus. I am relatively well, although the terrible weakness and pains have not yet left me. I cannot imagine what state I would be in now if the highly efficient and professional staff of Nork Infectious Clinical Hospital had not acted quickly to get me back on my feet. I honestly cannot even envision the hellish pains that seriously ill patients are going through, as my condition was evaluated as moderate but it was already unbearable.”

“In the hospital, I fully understood and appreciated the dedication of the doctors and the volume of their selfless work. I bow to all healthcare workers who continue to tirelessly work with devotion, care for, and comfort patients during these exhausting and heavy days, although they, more than many others, desperately need care themselves.”

“I express my deep gratitude to Mher Davidyants, the director of Nork Infectious Clinical Hospital, and Arshak Ghazaryan, the head of the first unit, for their professional work and dedication during these months. I am grateful to the entire medical staff for freeing me from the claws of Coronavirus as safely as possible and bringing me back to life.”

“I ask all of you to be cautious; you never know how this evil will manifest in your body. I had no chronic illness, but the consequences were unpredictable.”

“P.S. For patients in excruciating pain, the most unpleasant thing that can happen near the hospital is fireworks. The absence of basic coexistence rules and minimal human empathy in this atmosphere is truly unbearable and painful... (I have initiated legislative changes regarding fireworks with very strict regulations). But the nightmare did not end only with the evening fireworks, as someone nearby decided to keep a rooster... and the rooster’s crowing disrupted the dawn when you manage to sleep for just a little while amidst the pain of coronavirus. It may seem ridiculous, but believe me, when you are in pain all night and can only sleep a little at dawn, the rooster's crow becomes yet another nightmare.”

“One of the biggest problems in our society is the lack of care for one another; exclusively ensuring one’s own comfort at the expense of others has become the standard for being a 'good person.' Self-centeredness is the most serious issue that becomes evident in these crisis situations. We also need to heal and transform as a community.”

“Stay healthy, follow the rules, and care a little more for others.”
