Turkey’s Foreign Minister Accuses Armenia of Using Pandemic as Pretext to Attack Azerbaijan

Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu participated via video link in a diplomatic forum held in Antalya, according to ermenihaber.am.

Çavuşoğlu addressed the issue of border tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Distorting the reality, he accused Armenia of taking advantage of the pandemic situation to launch attacks on Azerbaijan.

He specifically noted: “During the pandemic, when we expect conflicts to come to an end, when we are trying to transform this situation into an opportunity for dialogue and peace, Armenia is acting contrary to this perception and is utilizing the pandemic situation, as we witnessed in the attacks directed towards Azerbaijani territories.”

Also participating in the forum via video link were Azerbaijan's newly appointed Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Japan’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Keisuke Suzuki, UN Deputy Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana.
